SECTION OF CELL BIOLOGY & BIOPHYSICS

Housed on the 2nd floor of the Department's Building and includes the Laboratory of Cell Biology

Academic Field

Structure and function of cellular components and products, Cytology, Cell Chemistry – Histochemistry, Photonic and Electronic Microscopy, Molecular Biophysics, Actinobiology – Radiobiology, Supramolecular structure of macromolecules, Bioelectronics – Cybernetics, Analysis and image processing, Cellular Pathology, Ιmmunocytochemistry – Immunohisto- chemistry, Developmental Biology: Histology, Embryology, Ageing, Ontogeny.

Courses

The Section has the responsibility of teaching the following undergraduate courses: a) Cell Biologyb) Biophysicsc) Advanced Cell Biologyd) Bioinformatics and e) Developmental and Molecular Animal Biology and f) Didactic of Biosciences.

Also, the Section  participates in the teaching of the intersectional courses: a) Genomics and b) History and Evolution Of Biology.

At postgraduate level, the Section coordinates the Graduate Programs: a) MSc in “Applications of Biology in Medicine”, b) MSc in “Bioinformatics-Computational Biology” and c) MSc in “Teaching of Biology”.
