SECTION OF BIOCHEMISTRY & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

Housed on the 2nd floor of the Department's Building and includes the Laboratory of Biochemistry

Macromolecular Structure and Function - Metabolic functions - Transmission and expression of genetic information – Gene expression regulation - Biochemical and molecular analysis of biomolecule properties – Transcriptomics - Pharmacogenomics - Genomic analysis - Evolutionary Biology – Clinical Biochemistry - Molecular Diagnostics - Neurochemistry.

The Section has the responsibility of teaching the following undergraduate courses: a) Biochemistryb) Molecular Biologyc) Topics in Contemporary Biochemistryd) Topics in Contemporary Molecular Biologye) Clinical Biochemistry and f) Biochemistry (Department of Pharmacy)

Also, the Section  participates in the teaching of the intersectional courses: a) Evolutionary Biologyb) Neurobiology – Neurochemistryc) Biotechnologyd) History and Evolution Of Biology and e) Genomics.

At postgraduate level, the Section organizes the Postgraduate Program: “Clinical Biochemistry-Molecular Diagnostics” in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Nursing and the School of Medicine.
